Im way into Dub. Most is prerecorded, but I often set up small loops and samples like drums, rhymic textures, ambeint stuff - and then FX the reverb and delay, reverse sampler and even some glitchy shit.

The Novaton sl is golden, I can adjust so many plugins on the fly.

Im way into sampling -- so Ive got a ton of water splashes and drips and time streached noises to mix in and FX out.

I plug a mic into my kaoss pad and play arround with a Melodica or I just make noises like beatboxing or something like it.

I make kinda dubby electronica.... not really DUB, but my techniques are very dub-oriented.

I'm a Reaktor freak - I make big custom FX racks with lots of delays, verbs n filters and jam loops through them. Loops are often found sound, ambience sampled from movies, bits of melodica etc... Reaktor is sync'd up to my controller so I have maxium hands on control over the FX.

If you are making music with LIVE then essentially you are making dub. Maybe not traditional Dub, but you are making dub.

Me and my ex used to make and play live electro dub stuff. I still make tunes and do the odd set when the time is right

I love it to bits.. all kinds but have a sweet spot of the electroish dub sound... heres some tunes if you like

Well to me Dub is taking existing "tracks" and remixing them or the "stems" of existing tracks and remixing . Also it's using the mixing board as an instrument - the dropping in and out of tracks and the use of effects.

Isn't this what essentially LIVE is in it's most basic form?

Some people may even argue that all modern music is essentially Dub. I don't go that far. But I do think they have a point to make.

im beginning to play with dubstep sounds

set up for this is a tr707 doing beats , into live for reverb and delay, eq the drrums to effect different sounds as I dont have enough inputs to seperate out the drum sounds

the bass and high sounds are all from an sh101 and little bit of reverb and chorus , also the ducking is from autopan on a send, not as good as the tremolo in logic express but close enough

re Dubstep, its like any 'new' genre - theres a lot of fairly average tunes
for much its almost like the emperors new clothes...
but there are also some wicked tunes out there, that to me DO sound
like future dub, almost more so than the plentiful downbeat variations...
have a listen to Deep Under by Elemental as an example..

I think one reason the original 70s dub is so good
is because the songs & rhythms/basslines being dubbed
were so good to begin with...
theres so much feel in the playing
