That looks good.
I bought a 160GB external USB2.0 drive yesterday. It is disappointingly slow when compared to the external FW800 drives I'm used to using on my G5. I didn't buy FW because I need the single MacBook's FW plug to connect to the mixer, although in theory USB2.0 should be faster than FW400.

that is the thing on a piece of paper, regarding tech specs usb 2.0 is supposed to be faster, but it is not at all, firewire is in reality by far supperior for data streaming.hambone1 wrote:That looks good.

Hitachi just released a new Travelstar model, doubling the previous 100 Gig capacity for the largest 7200 RPM high-speed 2.5" drives.
200 Gig // SATA // 7200 rpm // 16 Meg cache 2.5" portable drive.
See one here (in Japanese, but you get the idea)
It can easily be fitted into any case you want in a few minutes.
I got it in a slim case with dual FW-800 connectors and USB which can either be buss-powered or via 5 volt DC adaptor. Totally rocking!!

For people in the US, the new OWC clear cases are great, with a little heatsink. A bit pricey but really great as well!
Here is one from OWC already fitted with the same 200 Gig drive.

Whatever you do..... remember to "drive" carefully! (i.e. = always make multiple backups)

I was going to order one but I heard that you have to get a special cable to use it - reviews said you need to have it plugged into 2 usb ports to get enough power to it..SubFunk wrote:that is the thing on a piece of paper, regarding tech specs usb 2.0 is supposed to be faster, but it is not at all, firewire is in reality by far supperior for data streaming.hambone1 wrote:That looks good.

yeah I have a new Alienware laptop so I didn't think it wouldbe an issue
I mentioned in another thread when I dj its usually a 2-3 hour set - so I was thinking of even geting a 4-8gig usb flash drive and keep my foles for the gig on there - figured since its solid state I dont have to worry about rpms
