I recently got Tapco S5's and a Tapco S8 sub. Gives me an accurate and flexible monitoring system....only cost me £300 UK. I'm VERY happy with em

I've had a nearly unusable studio for the past 2 months trying to solve an electrical problem which was simply solved by getting new monitors. From the monitors being listed there is quite a price difference and quality difference. Are you looking to spend $300 for a pair or $1000 for a pair? That'll help out a lot.

-100 for Events.
I have a pair of TR5s and - for the money - they're great. Just because one of their products sucks, doesn't mean others do. TR5s compare well against similarly priced monitors: better stereo separation, reverb depth and so on, than Tannoy Reveals, Behringer Truth's, M-Audio's "offerings" (just don't go there) etc. I've heard a pair of ALP5s and they're also pretty good.

Ding ding!
I love mine. I added a subwoofer though.
Ditto. I just got a pair of them too, and am very impressed. I think adding a sub would really round them out, but unfortunately my living situation doesn't permit that level of rocking.. :/ Even so, the bass they can produce is great, and they have a nice and well-rounded sound.

A bit of advice to the original poster... saving 100-200$ by getting a pair of Behringers or something may seem like a good deal, but the price vs. quality difference here really makes it worthwhile to spend a bit of extra cash. Your ears will thank you.

Thanks for all the input guys. Hopefully I can scrounge up some dough for them soon. For now, my bose speakers do well enough. This is just a hobby and I normally throw all my money at my guitar/drums/bass gear. But I wanted to get some monitors after going to Guitar Center the other day and just being blown away by the sound they provided....but maybe those speakers were really good, i dont know. whatever. thanks though.
