Ableton Noob: Using LIVE for maximum midi automation

Hi,

I'm currently using a DAW setup and sequencer (Cakewalk) which isn't suitable for live performance. My music is rock/guitar based and I currently perform solo using pre-recorded MP3 studio backing tracks - the MP3 which is too limiting.

I'm planning to purchasing an Ableton-loaded rackmount PC setup for live use and have some questions regarding flexibility/functionality. The hardware set-up is as follows:

1. Custom made rackmount PC/Ableton LIVE.

2. Presonus firepod (8 out/8 in). 8 out to the mix, 'potentially' guitar and vox as 2 analogue inputs.

3. DMX controller to run 10 light rig.

4. Zoom GFX (midi compatable) guitar FX unit.

5. Faderfox LV2.

6. Anything glaringly obvious I've missed with this masterplan.

My questions:

1. What is the ideal DMX controller to run a 10 light rig (8 LED 56's, blinder, laser). Is this setup easily controlled with LIVE midi triggers and is there any degradation on sequencer performance as a result?

2. The Zoom gfx comes with Cubase software, can I use LIVE midi triggers to automatically select patches in songs?

3. I anticipate using a midi footswitch to control start/stop/scroll/loop functions - any recommendations for suitable equipment?

4. Can I use a a Fadefox LV2 with this setup as a 3rd midi input, with automated functions without system degradation.

I realise much of the above depends on processor capacity - I believe I can get one to adequately cope.

Appreciatively anticipating guidance prior to re-mortaging everything.
