for much its almost like the emperors new clothes...
but there are also some wicked tunes out there, that to me DO sound
like future dub, almost more so than the plentiful downbeat variations...
have a listen to Deep Under by Elemental as an example..

but hey, opinions are like arses, everyone has one ;)

I think one reason the original 70s dub is so good
is because the songs & rhythms/basslines being dubbed
were so good to begin with...
theres so much feel in the playing
Thanks man, I'll check it out

Hmm, it's not bad. I still can't help but see it as the bastard child of UK garage and grimy D'n'B...

well I kinda make dub with a psychedelic twist
I use a nord lead 2, a virus B, an sh201, NI battery 3, guitar and flute and some sampling from films
I can easily say though I play the ableton and the mixer as much as these instruments :)
If you like to check that out:

the tracks name is Dirty Harry, it is not streaming somehow but you can download it.
If you have any question about any elements in the song I d be happy to walk you through how I did it.

that's because it is. :?
Every genre comes from some others. whats the big deal?
anyway its a genre that's dub influenced, thats all, no one claimed it was really the future of dub or the next dub scene. The whole point of dubstep was that it was like half time dnb with the wobbly basslines and heavily influnced by UK garage and grime, hip hop, dub, classical etc

nothing's ever original, if it seems like it is then you just haven't looked hard enough to find the influences.

That is true, but it doesn't mean I have to like it.

The thing thatt Im not so thrilled about with dubstep is those 'wha wha' basslines, it sounds ALOT like dnb. Lameo. I know alot of guys who are constantly using that friggin bass synth sound - get over it already.

Oh well, Ive got an opinion.
Tomorrow may come, so lets live today.

EDIT: I fucking hate this dubstep pish. It sounds like bad D'n'B at half tempo. Bleh... This comment is not aimed at spiral - I didn't listen to it mate ;-)
i have to say that if that's all you have heard of dubstep, then you are not really hearing much in the spectrum of it. everyone is entitled to their own opinion, of course, but the range of music that i am hearing from the dubstep camp is pretty exciting.

of course, there is some laziness in there. simple lfo wobbles over and over again, blah blah blah.

but i definitely recommend a listen to some mala (digital mystikz), pinch, skream, geiom, elemental, boxcutter, shackleton, appleblim, and kode 9 for a start. there is some great music being made, and there is some mediocre. welcome to...um...music.
