Ableton + Groovebox

Hi, I bought a Roland MC-303 and have ableton on my computer. I plugged the groovebox in via USB and windows installed it fine as a USB audio device.

However I cant seem to get it to work on Ableton. These are the things I have tried.

-Put the groovebox on remote control and external sync.
-Setup Ableton so that all Ins Outs are on in the midi sync menu
-Clicked external Sync.
-I have tried midi mapping but no response from the groovebox.
-The midi message lights are not flickering so there is no communication.

If anyone has any suggestions it would be great. Thanks.

i'm using a midi out from my jx-305 groovebox (same as 303 except for keyboard) running into the midi in on my tascam fw 1884. i can still play my patterns i've recorded off it with different vst synths but it hums so loud i don't even try to use the original sounds out of it (L & R & headphone output). i only use it for the keyboard. not for the sounds even though i would def like to...
