I also was wondering....
I have an m-audio axiom 61.... and I wanted to use the knobs to control vst parameters....how should I go about doing that?
Controlling VST parameters with hardware
under preferences you need to open the midi tab and make sure that your axiom has the "remote" button turned on.
then click the midi tab in the main screen (top right hand corner)
then click the function you want to control with you mouse and then press or turn the control on your controller you want to tie it too
done

do you think a vintage laptop would sound better?
Yeah it does.
What you need to do is click on the arrow (<)next to the VST on/off button in the vst effect box in the rack. When you click this a lot of sliders will appear to the right of the VST effect window. These can then be automated in exactly the same way as mrzosonp explained. Its dead easy, but well cool in execution. Try it.

i dont use kontakt but im pretty sure in the modulation routing you could route something generic to the parameter you want and set your hardware to the same midi cc and control kontakt as a midi instrument.Hilsee wrote:Thanks for the answer dick.
What if the VST doesn't have items that show up in this list? Kontakt didn't.
