wow it looks like my studio, but with equipment instaed of empty milk crates and dust bunnies
Computer games don't effect kids... If Pacman affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music

my point is that it doesn't matter what gear a girl has or how good her tunes are...some guy is always yammering on about whether she's attractive or not, as if her talent and all the rest of it is always less important than how she looks.

and ya know...i shouldn't have to explain why that's lame. but i guess i still have to because some people are fuckin thick.
actually Shiva, while in most cases I think you are right, there are certain cases where the objectified person is kind of setting out to be objectified, such as:

this sounds suspiciously like "she asked for it. did you see how short her skirt was?"

i dunno why i bother sometimes, cuz it's predictable the responses i will get. really. i could have outlined the responses in a spreadsheet before i even posted.

so anyway...she has more gear than most of us. yay.

i thinks if a tom cruise type of guy with a sixpack and swiss leather lederhose would have touched a minimoog in an strange way the reactions also would have been NOT about the synths and his music.

Shiva, I hear you and agree completely. At least you tried to point it out, which is sometimes the only thing you can do, even though you know you're not going to be heard. I'm surprised, though, that nobody assaulted you for asserting your politics, which is what usually happens on these boards. Your politics are not lost on me.

Wow she's gotta lotta synths - the headache of routing that stuff would lead one to say "damn"

on the subject of her as a person

I really can't comment on whether she's hot or not - it's hard to tell with that leather thing on...she has that man thing going on but she might be more feminine than you think

unlike the other "men" on this board I talk about every bodies looks guys and girls <--> for instance the "Post your set-up and ugly mug" thread...I've asked repeatedly for "men" to stop posting their ugly mugs

face it - the face and / or body is the first thing you see on these forums - and based on that, whether you want to believe it or not your opinions begin to form (for the better or worse) - I generally have a low opinion on the human form as it is and feel some type of enhancement would behoove the human race but that's just me

there's a great show on the GSN network on Tuesday's called Without Prejudice <---> basically people form opinions about people long before they actually get to know them (based on short 15 second video interviews)- but it's interesting to hear these opinions change as they get to know these people

seeing as this is a forum dominated by men it's only natural they'd comment on a girls / womans looks - if this forum was dominated by women I have no doubt there would be comments about mens looks - it's natural

but yeah check this show out - it's really thought provoking <-- never thought I'd say that did you, "Thought provoking"

anywayz...

Without Prejudice?

from the website:

"How far have we come as a society that is not only accepting of differences but is forgiving of indiscretions?

'Political correctness' is a hot-button, tightrope topic and WITHOUT PREJUDICE? is taking aim on the nation, ready to gauge the climate of moral consciousness.

Hosted by Dr. Robi Ludwig, a renowned psychotherapist and journalist, this provocative series focuses on five contestants willing to open their lives to examination. A panel of strangers will decide which ONE contestant deserves to receive a $25,000 prize. Both the panel and home viewers will discover more and more about each contestant as the examination progresses and subsequently, contestants are eliminated.

WITHOUT PREJUDICE? does not support or condemn any action, attribute or value system, but rather stimulates an open debate. The diverse panel and viewers will soon need to make the ultimate determination that will impact five lives on the line. Can a life-altering decision truly be reached WITHOUT PREJUDICE?"

I reckon it's about a 50/50 split. How about starting a poll?

There's a good interview here, in which she reveals that she is not a man, she is not Bob Moog's girlfriend, and she is 'not rich'.
Cikira is really Amanda Pehlke, a former professional bellydancer. In 2001, she became the only person to have ever been married at NAMM, where she was given away at the altar by Bob Moog (she's since divorced). Here are the wedding photos.
"she became the only person to have ever been married at NAMM"
is a bullshit statement, her husband was also married at NAMM, unless there's something REALLY freaky going on here...

http://www.cikira.com/who/

I am occasionally alerted to some horrifying legends and speculations about myself on forums all over the world
No, I'm not a man! (Believe it or not, I've seen that one several places -- it's a silly reflection on humanity, in several ways.)
