How to make this effect with Live
I'm wondering if its possible to make this effect with Ableton. I think its from the DJM 600 from Pioneer. Here is the Sample http://www.tiep-iets.nl/voorbeeld.mp3

Load Reaktor Ensemble, as insert effect. The second module is "doubler". 1/8 delay and replace dry and wet to output.
With Ableton Audio Effect Rack:
The effect is very simple. 1 delay and 1 autopan. Delay time 1/8, Autopan time 1/4. Setting the Autopan effect phase 0-90°. 0°=double kick, 90°=double ride parts.
(sorry for my bad english)

On the mixer just use the echo effect (I have echo on my 500), make sure the time is to sync by adjusting the effect knob till the effect parameter matches the bpm counter, apply the effect and cut the channel switch from line to phono (or vice versa). This kills the signal to the effect and the echo will gradually fade out, just like in the audio example. Bring it back in on beat by removing the effect while simultaneously switching back to phono. I'm sure that's how the dj did it.Grappadura wrote:I think the dj is just playing with the volume. The echos are part of the track. To achieve that sound you would have to slide the volume while the notes are playing, "cutting" each note. Thats what I think it is.
It's a pretty fun little trick, and really easy.
As for how to do it with Ableton, see above posts. I will probably mess around with it myself a little later, since it's a concept I actually understand.... But first I have to complete my "chores" before wifey gets home.....

This better version: Simple Delay with 1/8 time, and playing the Dry/Wet knob.

(move the knob 1/4 speed)
