My CPU is going crazy!

Post by bharrower » Thu Aug 09, 2007 1:14 pm

Please please please help!

I'm running Live 5 off my macbook pro 2 GHz Intel Core Duo with 2GB memory. This, to my knowledge, is definitely powerful enough to dj with.

Basically, I have serious problems with the CPU whilst using ableton on my machine. Even when only using ableton to mix 2 records together and the CPU sits around the 50% mark. The big problem is that the CPU goes way up to 175% and the audio starts cutting out if I do not press the little square stop button before the record runs out. I really hope this is not normal.

I am trying to incorporate Live 5 into my dj sets and really need to figure out what the hell I'm doing wrong before I play out.

I really hope there is a simple answer to my problem. It has reached the stage where I am ready to give up on ableton if the problem persists.

Please help me!!!

I should mention that I am very new to this so it may be something very simple which is causing the problem.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You need to have version 5.2 or later to run on Intel Macs, and it's only version 6 or later that supports multi-core CPU's.

Ah.
Do you think this is the reason for the cpu going crazy then?
