Apple Mac + TC Konnekt - this combo working for anyone?

Post by quadrant6 » Thu Aug 09, 2007 8:53 pm

I want to get this interface either the 24d or live version probably to go with one of those new imacs in the near future. I was going to go with an rme fireface but think the konnekt is probably going to work better stand alone (without always needing a computer)

But there have been a lot of bad comments regarding issues with konnekt when using with MAC OS

Is it actually working well for anyone?

Im using the Konnect24D on a windows box itś been great.. I would recomend getting the D the built in DSP is worth the $ alone. The Live model looks badass but i went with the D. Itś the same interface but without the beefy case.

I use a Macbook Core 2 Duo and a Konnekt 24D...

It works great for me. The drivers are still a bit shakey but the worst is behind. See the PRO REVIEWS section here for the latest:

I've used a Firewire HD daisy-chained to the Konnekt with great results.
I also use it with an M-Audio Octane thru lightpipe.

Everything is solid for me.

Good luck!

What latency are you getting?
Can you bus-power it?
What do you mean by "the drivers are still a bit shakey"?

Thanks.

Latency of 96, sometimes 128, depending on the project.
Bus-powering the unit WORKS for me but it won't power the daisy-chained HD... that's standard.
Shakey drivers:
-The TC control panel will crash sometimes with no effect to the host application or the unit itself.
-The Konnekt will not always come back to life after system-sleep...

Hope this helps!

Konnekt 8 isn't working for me on a G5 PPC at all, nor with a lot of other PPC users. I gether the essentials of the Konnet 8 and 24D drivers are pretty much the same. Supposedly so to with the new 32s as well, and according to the Konnekt guy over at harmony central, apple just bought a bunch of those for post-production work - so maybe now the two companies will get thier asses in gear and make the drivers and OS play nice together.

Konnekt 24D has been fine for me with my dual core iMac. I think the only complaint I have is that it gets bloody hot, so you'd have to keep it well ventilated.

I saw the heat issue on other forums.
Mine doesn't have that "problem".

I cant get my Konnekt24d to work properly..
Huge latency on audio recording, plus the DSP Effects dont really work as desired.
i have updated the software and firmware which was a bit better.. but still no major improvements.. I also tried Cubase which came with Konnekt, but i refuse to use it, and i didnt see any major differences performance wise.

Plugins wise, this firewire interface has a worst performance than my old M-audio USB which i thougth it was crap!

So.. think well..
Untill TC does some decent drivers for this, Dont buy this product at all..

Regards.

Just wondering if you could have a Firewire issue that's affecting your Konnek24d. Here are a couple of hotfixes that may help (assuming you're on Windows).
