Dual Monitors!

Hi all!

I'm looking at upgrading my studio and getting an additional monitor so I can have dual screen. Would anyone reccomend this or is it not wirth it with Ableton because you can't split the screen can you?? Thanks,

its one thing that you can't go wrong with, more screen real estate!!

you can't split the arrangement and session views though

I take y'alls recommendations to the next level...

BIGASS screen (wide as well) + smaller lcd ...
(BIG one for console... small one next to your gear...)

I think I am swaying more towards one big 22" widescreen rather than having 2 x 17"s, especially after hearing the comments!

A local retailer are doing a 22" samsung widescreen for 220 pounds sterling! Bargain!

Has anyone tried using an LCD TV with a DVI input? In the region of 32"??

It depends on how you expect to use the application.

I use dual monitors so that I can run live full screen one monitor and explorer, sample editors, vsts, even tutorials, on the other monitor, without having to minimize live or send it to the background.

Agreed. You don't realize how annoying it is to have the VSTi blocking Ableton until you hook up a second monitor and it's no longer an issue.

can you minimize ableton to half screen and use your vsts on the other half then? Cool!

I have a mate i produce with and he's only got the 1 monitor, i've only be on 2 for around 3 months but i find it stiffles the creative flow when we work in his studio

I hook my laptop up to an 32" LCD at work occasionally, although only through VGA. My main problem is that the native res of LCD TV's is too low. You get a nice big picture, yeah, but you can't raise the resolution without violently distorting everything.

my friend hooks his macbook up to a 32 samsung hd tv, and it is stunning.
