I am not a tech guy, sorry....
I can tell you that there is little to no latency, and it does not affect my mixing.
Comparing Midi transfer to Firewire transfer / latency speed, I have no idea how to test this. If someone wants to explain it to me I'd be more than glad to post up the specs. Both methods worked with no problems.
Thx and sorry I couldn't be more specific.

DK...I can assure you Firewire is much faster than MIDI by any means...MIDI is such a garbage, outdated standard. To be honest the only reason I'm not so interested in the Zero8 is because it lacks OSC support which shows me that Korg isn't exactly looking ahead. For this reason alone I'm getting rid of my DJM800 for a Jazzmutant Lemur

Going from the DJM-800 to a Lemur isn't really a swap. It's more like giving up sports to join math club:

I can also state that I owned a Lemur for about a month, and the Zero8 is the way to go. Luckily the guys at audiomidi.com gave me 100% store credit so I was able to get a Zero8 and a Mackie SRM 450 for the Price of the Lemur.
While the concept of the Lemur is amazing, not having any real knobs for live mixing was the deal breaker for me.

dude, just open up your preferences in live, and post the latency numbers you see on the audio page...including sample rate, etc.anthonymacc wrote:I am not a tech guy, sorry....

on older units, such as the original novation remote series(usb) the reaction timeSPAWNmaster wrote:DK...I can assure you Firewire is much faster than MIDI by any means...MIDI is such a garbage, outdated standard.
and sensitivity for the encoders was bad, due to software...midi was better.
so, my question is based not on speed, which is negligible with either platform..
it is about how good the software/drivers work with live.
cosm, i'd love to see (hear) you rip up one of these!....
anthonymacc, all you gotta do is have the korg hooked up, with live running hit:
apple comma (command ,)...this shortcut opens the preferences.
hit the audio tab, and the page with the specs will open.
this will be very useful should you decide to lower your sample buffer for better latency or raise it to get rid of artifacts....
so simple, even a dj can do it!
(just kidding!
i don't even know the technical names for apple comma...command comma? or: command ,? dammit jim, i'm just a musician, not a programmer! )

i stand corrected! i see what you mean now and I actually had never used my remote SL zero in USB mode which would explain why I didn't notice the performance issues even after upgrading firmware/etc. cheersD K wrote:on older units, such as the original novation remote series(usb) the reaction timeSPAWNmaster wrote:DK...I can assure you Firewire is much faster than MIDI by any means...MIDI is such a garbage, outdated standard.
