score/vertical viewing needed

Post by dutch_schulz » Mon Aug 13, 2007 1:55 pm

Dear Ableton,

IMO Live is missing a convenient VERTICAL VIEW of whatever MIDI pitches are happening at a given moment across the project.

It would be nice to have it in a dedicated SCORE window, but a more simple but effective solution could be to make for a way to see all notes in a single CLIP VIEW - the way it is implemented, e.g., in Logic (double-click in matrix editor - see all MIDI parts). Both Arrangement and Session windows would benefit from this function.

I can do fine without it as long as I'm making grooves. But as soon as there happens to be the need for some "serious composition" a few tracks thick, I have to export stuff to Logic, which is a drag.

Thanks for the great tool!

Regards,
Vadim

Yes, this would be really nice, both some sort of score editing and the ability to see all notes vertically at once. Unfortunately, I don't think it's a high priority - most Live users probably cannot even see the point. You really need a bit of classic musical schooling to find such a feature useful.

I also would really like to be able to view my midi clip as a musical score.

It would also be useful if you could then export and print this view for use when playing with other musicians. This would be a very handy and easy way to provide a score for future reference.
