I'm only on a 17" monitor at the moment at 1280 by whatever so going to a 32" LCD at WXGA (1366 by 768....I think) won't make that much difference...............or will it????

I just got 2 19" wide screens (1440x900) for a mere £109.99 each from maplins that were on sale. I had a mare to start but once I had finally got the refresh rate correct they have been great.

While I love widescreen monitors, I think 4:3 screens are still great with Live. I just bought a 19" 4:3 from Dell and session view looks great, I can expand the mixer and still see 30 scenes.
Likewise, I like the depth in Arrange view.

Absolutely! I had a friend who had 6 monitors going in his Cubase studio.... 1 for tracks, 1 for mixer, 1 for piano roll, 3 for plugins. Sweet!

I'd agree...dual monitors can be a PITA. The new 22inchers are sporting 1900x1600 and are hovering around $400. You can get like 30+ tracks across in session view...goddamn that's a lot of clippies!

After working so long with my macbook screen, I think it will be a long time before I feel the need for more screen real estate. New 19" 4:3 with my mini is working a charm.

I'm looking at upgrading my studio and getting an additional monitor so I can have dual screen. Would anyone reccomend this or is it not wirth it with Ableton because you can't split the screen can you?? Thanks,

Paul.
well you could do it like i do it, i use dual monitors, but when in live im using clone mode.

my monitors are placed so that no matter where i sit/what im playing i can always see atleast one of them.
which in turn means that now with clone mode i always have a perfect view of whats going on in my software, while fiddling with my hardware.
so does my friends when were jamming together. :)

ofcourse, in order to take advantage of the true dual monitor power, make sure to place them so that you can still use them both while at the computer doing other not so important things.
