i recently 'switched' my main (not studio) computer (laptop) to a macbook. i really like the design of the little guy and overall enjoy it. however, there are many 3rd party tools and things built into windows for audio and pictures that save me time and stress.

my studio computer is windows xp and it's super fast and rock solid (dual core pentium d 3.0ghz, 2gb ram, ableton live 6), and i've got access to neat windows only plugins like dblue_glitch ! and im not sure if its windows only or not, but i use the tc electronics compressors all the time and they're amazing. too bad they're discontinued.

I had a MAC for 14 days free trial...nice, but smelled of pork, I dont like Pork, it gives me a rash.

Took it back, mentioned the "pork smell" to the tech guy eating his bacon sandwich, he just laughed and slapped me.

Thats not the sort of customer service I expect when buying a new laptop.

On the upside I found out where he lived and ate his dog.

Freaky...

the bottomline is: this debate is tired. let's all give up and throw all of our computers into the ocean. anybody?

oh yeah forgot to mention... dnb is better than trance :D

I am prepared to concede that some people actually PREFER the distortion added by Mac circuitry, but techno musicians need to hear music in its pure form before adding effects.

Funnily enough I was reading recently that when Nick Berry was developing Reason in the early 90s it was based on the Microsoft PC format. But his co-developer Paul Medford hooked the plugin up to a Mac, and noticed how its main PCB wiring was affecting the sound. He instantly realised the potential for crazy sound mangling and wild effects, and imported the circuitry into the PC, but in software form - and that was the birth of the "Scream" distortion unit, as used by the Prodigy on their best selling hit "Boing! (Out of Space)"! So I am not against experimentation at all, and Macs can be used in the same way as one might use a circuit bent speak and spell.

Weird but I had pork last night and quite like it, might go get me a Mac and apologise for eating that guys dog...

P.S Nick Berry used a Mac in "Heartbeat"... infact thats the reason he got fired, the producers could not convince him that a Mac kind of blew the 1960's feel of the show, lets hope it makes a comeback in his new sitcom "wicksy"

Faxploitation  ..... I love It :D .
My real name actually is Oscar and my last name does start with an "F" so it's not really a reinvention of any kind what so ever.
Though my full name makes me sound like a famous writer or sumptin' what with it being Leonard and all.
And the F is the last name of a Famous Actor anyway who has since passed on but I digress too much methinks.
My nickname with my closest buddies is still either FaX or MuMu.
