Battery 3 crashes Live 5.2.2

Post by timbrefire » Tue Aug 14, 2007 12:31 pm

Group:

Native Instruments told me to upgrade to Live 6 because they do not support their product when running Live 5. Albeit deceitful, they've got my money and now I need to know if another shift on my precious dough will fix this. So: Is the Live 6 upgrade relatively seamless or am I going to have a lot of issues and does Battery 3 run smoothly in Live 6?

Thanks in advance!

what do you mean it crashes Live? can you give specific instances?
I loaded Battery 3.0.1 in live 5.2 (not 5.2.2) and it seemed to be working fine..
running a Mac osx 10.4.8 quad G5.

perhaps there is another solution which will keep you from having to upgrade to Live 6 (although if you have the money in my opinion Live 6 is more than worth the upgrade)

Have you tried deleting preference files, or the library cache, or reinstalling Battery 3?

Further detail: I have a Live set where there are two Battery tracks. One has Basic Kit loaded with a 1/4 note bass drum beat.. The other has Full Jazz kit loaded with a pattern using about 8 sounds. When I try to do anything with the set, record an audio sample of the tracks, freeze tracks, or listen to it, Live closes completely - out like a light.

yea using the same setup you described i can confirm I am having similar problems in Live 5.2 w Battery 3.0.1

I did the same thing in Live 6 without any issues or crashes...playing freezing etc. all was good.

as far as Live 5 sets in live 6. they work great. when you install Live you can choose to upgrade your live 5 library. But I would back it up before hand in case something unexpected goes wrong.

before upgrading check out your other most needed plugins and contact their Authors support to make sure they work in Live 6. also check live 6 minimum system requirements to make sure your system will meet specs. there are still some bugs in Battery 3 even in Live 6, but in my opinion they are minor. I would advise reading the Battery forums at NI website to see if any issues listed there may concern you.

Why 3.0.1? The current version's 3.0.2...
Just curious.

for the time being I like to be able to use key commands in live, more than I need the bug fixes addressed in 3.0.2

but I am sure I will need to upgrade eventually. maybe by that time, the rumoured bigger and better upgrade will be available. :)

Sorry, I was running 3.0.2. I am not e-mailing from my music machine and remembered the wrong version. OK, looks like I'll do the 6 upgrade. One last question - I purchased Operator with Live 5 - will that upgrade as well?

Thanks much for your help folks - bless the forum.
