Reason 3 or Stylus Rmx
Reason 3 or Stylus Rmx
Hi Guys I want to use Rex files in my Live projects, So I am deciding if to Upgrade to Reason 3 or buy Stylus Rmx, I have Reason adapt 3 for Korg so I can upgrade to Reason 3 full for $299 also I can buy Stylus Rmx for $279. So the price Is more or less the same, I would like to know Which one is better in use with Live 6. I dont't really play keyboard. So can the pros help me decide on this.
Thank guys.

If all you really want to do is work with REX files than I'd go with Stylus. Drop your Rex library into SageConverter and it becomes a part of Stylus. You can open RMX in Live as a plugin and skip having to rewire Reason into live. It has a great library itself. Very nice for beats and a pretty elegant work environment.
Reason, on the other hand, has lots of other things: several synths, a nice modular feel, it's own great library, etc. But if you are not really going to use these features, who cares, right?
If you do decide to go with Reason, you would be smart to wait just a little for Reason 4. They are beta testing the 4th release candidate, so you should be able to bjuy it very soon.

I have both and recommend both as well...
If you get Stylus RMX, a good investment is to get "Total Rex" from Zero-G...there are some 15,000 Rex files a unlimited possibilities once you begin converting them for RMX using the SAGE converter as koranek suggested.
I can't wait for Reason 4 to finally come out...have been beta testing it for the last month and Thor is amazing...not to mention the long overdue enhancements to the sequencer...and the new arpegiator (RPG-8) and the "ReGroove Mixer".

RMX is an outstanding rx2 player (IMO, it's way better than Dr. Rex).
I heavily used Reason for several years, but during this time, I've grown to hate to hate Rewire. Therefore, I don't recommend Reason, especially if you are just looking for a rx2 player.
Also, I think that Reason 4 is a weak update, but this is highly debatable.

Why do people talk about shit that they know nothing about?beats me wrote:Does RMX finally work on the new Macs? They've been taking forever and a goddamn day to make the rest of their synths UB even though they have a huge part of their FAQ page dedicated to the fact they know there is a demand for it and they are working on it.....have been for, shit, forever.
RMX was made available as a UB a long time ago. In February of 07 a UB was released.
I have both RMX and battery and use them both extensively,,
both offer great tools for playing back and messing with rex files,,
but,,
if your looking for a simple and straight forward rex host check out phatmatic pro

i've been a big fan since befor izotope took it on and love it,,
it fits live like a glove with drag and drop midi files,, drag and drop audio slices,,
it can host up to 16 loops and has some pretty cool but basic FX,,
try the demo and see if it's what your looking for,,,

stylus rmx.....i played with reason for a while......then i played with stylus mx for a while....with the built in effects and stock 7.4 GB sound library..ot is a beast. i have made numerous beat taes with srtylus rmx over and over with the same kits over and over just tweaking the chaos engine just a bit and flipping the effects here and there and no one can call me out on messing with th same kits.
