My space is buggy.
Yeah mp3.com !!!
Damn I had MP3 fever back in the day. I started to lose the plot (around 1999-2000) when one of my pieces, V8 Pussy, was at #2 on the international breakbreat chart for 2 weeks which resulted in tunes I'd done in other genres move up the charts since visistors from the breakbeat chart would listen to the other pieces. ... I actually received cheques from mp3.com. Some pretty good ones at that! I was unemployed at the time and seriously thought I could do without a day job and instead live a poverished artist livestyle.
Then it all went to shit!
(and the quality of the music being uploaded was absolutely shit)
I learned alot from the experience however and many interesting things in the real world happened since. MP3.com made me understand that although building an audience in your own city through gigging with Live sets was very noble, it was limiting ... Connecting with other articles and labels outside your home city is were its at!
; )
I too resisted MySpace.com at first - it felt like mp3.com all over again.
ACtually I had to get a presence happening because some music fan in the US decided to create an alias of my likeness and upload one of my tunes purely so they could add it to their profile. Weird!
What is cool about MySpace.com however is that it isn't just a community for musicians. It's a mixed community of your friends and your worldwide audience of music consumers as well.
I must admit however I too hate the way it has been implemented. It is very buggy - I find the "pimping" tools for customising the graphics and layout are somewhat unpredictable and cumbersome.
Damn I'm trying to resist this damn facebook shit too now!
It just seems like a great mechanism to have your identity stolen ...

If i see another "Your early Easter e-card is here" in my events invites, I'm going to open my computer up and be sick inside it!!!

For every positive feature of myspace there is downside.
The mp3 player is ok if you are a punk band and each song last a few minutes, but if you try and upload a song over 6 minutes, the quality is a joke. Better off using a different player, because the myspace is just a pain in the arse.

So, I have been experimenting. I have had 5 friend requests this past 4 days. My profile views and my plays (except for the times when I play my self....with my self) have stayed the same.
seems like the joke is on me, dry no vasoline, dipped in glass.....ouch!

myspace works if you put your human touch into it, if you visit someones page and it grabs your attention someway, leave a message / comment. then you'll get some connection and life out of it.
if you use a program to spam out a generic comment, most people will either:
1) not listen to your music / look at your site
2) delete the comment (either before (awaiting approval) - or after)
- unless your comment is extremely clever somehow.. but thats rare
my friend works for bebo, but I haven't set up a page, he was bugging me a couple of years ago. reverb nation ? hmm
I'm deciding to spend my time making new productions and browse this forum for cool OT political / spiritual info and new geekery...
oh, and cook up some good food and make love to my girlfriend and maybe freak out to a big bassline or two at the club.
