Tracks with variable tempos. How do I warp them?

Post by Sophistik » Mon Aug 20, 2007 8:39 pm

How do I warp these tracks, say they are 130, and then drop to 80 in the middle. Most tracks drop 1/2 spd or double, but some of these tracks do strange things like gradual tempo increases. How do I properly handle tracks like this, (Tracks with turntable power downs for instance) without it sounding unatural? I have tracks that use power-down effects, power-on effects, and/or just drop into hip-hop for a middle 8. Or it has a buildup where it is obviously gaining bpm. How do I handle these?

What about tracks that come back in after a break, but the down beat (X.1.1 comes in shifted like X.1.3. (get shift).... like where i should be ONE_two three four, it's now - one-two-THREE-four. I've noticed some breaks shifting a track maybe a whole bar or measure, but not a few beats. Whats' a proper way to re-sync that?

Thanks guys, this is driving me nuts.

same as any other track, put the markers on the beat, the 1, 2, 3, 4 etc...
