RAM and Latency

Post by jimjam123 » Tue Aug 21, 2007 12:19 am

Hey,
So I have posted a thread about this before but for some reason I can't post another reply in it (locked?) so I'll make it brief.

To reduce the latency of ableton what would be better?;

1) Upgrading my RAM from 512mb to 2gb
or
2) Buying the M-audio USB Audiophile external sound card

Ram will not affect latency. It will make Live run better, 512k is pretty dicey for anything more than 2-4 track work.

Latency is greatly affected by the sound card. I don't know what that particular sound interface is but it is probably night and day better than a soundblaster or onboard computer card. (ASIO is the way to go).
