The rendered file sounds different to Live's playback!!!!!!!

Post by aufloesung » Wed Aug 22, 2007 8:46 am

Hello, I noticed a marginal difference comparing Live's playback of a project with some layers and plugins I'm working on to the rendered result played back in Winamp on the same soundcard (Digi 002).

Compared to the rendered file, Live's output seemed to have less clarity, sounded more "blurry".

I'm working with Live 6 in 24 bit with 44,1khz

This difference doesn't surprise me really but I want to be able to understand why it happens.

Please help me!!!!!!! :?: :o

So the rendered files sounds better once in winamp than straight in live ?

You sure it's not the opposite ? ( usually some complaints about live sound quality goes that way)

anyway, it's not the same audio engine in both soft so it cans affect how it sounds a bit, maybe winamp is doing some kind of aural exciting and it works particulary well for your track.

Does the rendered file, if you play it back within Live, unwarped, sound the same as when you play it back using Winamp ?

To narrow down the problem we would need to find out if the change in sound occurs when rendering or when playing back via Winamp.

Don't know winamp, but check it's preferences to see if it's not EQing or doing some process to the audio you don't know about.

Also check if there are any specific plug ins that sound different or if it is the whole mix.

Are you using any VSTs (such as a reverbs) that have a CPU-saving feature that means you don't get the best results in real time but you do when rendering?

same problem here

I experience the same problem... when making an edit of a song and then use it in another live set (tracks are warped), it sounds blurry. I use the same bpm as the edit, but need to warp it, so i can use loops....

Would love to know the answer to solve this...thanks in advance!

g'day,

try seting the loops on repitch warp mode alone with the HI-Q turned on and see if that helps
