I dont think it has. I know artists who wouldnt allow there sampled work to get onto other peoples tracks in fear of a backlash from there fans.

punch is mostly in the midrange so no, adding a sub will not give you that result. the only application I have ever used subs on a pair of near-field monitors is when sculpting sub-bass frequencies that you can feel but not hear.

imo, dance music is legitimate if it legitimately causes people to dance.

I certainly agree but since when has daft punk caused people to dance for 2 days straight? And since when is jumping and pounding fists in the air while worshipping the musician instead of the music, dancing? Icedsushi is certainly right they have some catching up to do as their concerts aren't even long enough for a single roll.

Bangalter is talented no doubt about it, but like many have said, Daft Punk has always been borderline pop and definitely always as commercial as possible - even musically, hell, half of Daft Punk's songs are just a ripped out 70s break, add a little compression, throw on some vocoded vocals, presto.

Don't get me wrong, he is very good at making that specific Daft Punk sound (just because something is technically not that interesting doesn't mean anyone can do it - he has an awesome ear/feel for it), but Daft Punk isn't capable of "selling out" because Daft Punk was never edgy or underground -- Bangalter didn't suddenly chang his sound or do something different - DP has always been about fun, groovy bubblegum pop techno
