I recently purchased an Edirol UA 4FX which i use to record in Ableton Live. I love the sounds i get from the box but i also want to use it with plug ins. The only problem is that i get a mix of a clean sound with the plug ins.
Id like all audio to flow through Ableton (which it currently does) although there is also guitar in the background which is rather annoying.
Basically, the audio comes out my monitors even if i dont arm a track in ableton, and when i arm a track i hear a combination of both.
Im looking for a way to bypass the sound card so i can only hear the audio through ableton. Ive tried many a site for this but been unsuccesful and there is nowhere in the manual
Any help with this would be much appreciated
Cheers

Hi,
If I'm understanding well, your soundcard has a 'direct monitoring' feature. That is most usefull if you intend to record your guitar into Live: you then turn monitoring to OFF on the track you want to record to, and still hear the guitar, so you can play and it is recorded with no latency.
Latency is this slight 'delay' that alwaya happen for digital recording.
Now, if you want the guitar to play through Live to hear it with the effects, you should turn monitor to IN in the track in Live, or arm it, and turn OFF this direct monitoring on the soundcard. Read its manual to find out more about it.
