When you downloaded these plugins did you extract the files with something like Winrar to your vst folder?

The manual has a more in-depth guide on how to get Live to recognize your VSTs.
Also, VSTs do not show up alongside Live's plugins (again, consult manual on using VSTs, there's a whole chapter on it). You have to select the next tab below Live's plugins to see the contents of the VSTs folder (assuming you set it up like dosch told you to)
