Konnekt 8 / OS 10.4.10 / awful dropouts

Post by llama_taboot » Thu Aug 23, 2007 2:15 am

So I decided to pick up a firewire I/O today (alesis multimix12 experiment was a disaster latency wise and I think my usb fast track pro is on the fritz after many years of valient service) and I got the konnekt 8. beautiful. sturdy. doesn't work worth a damn.

I get awful dropouts when the cpu gets above about 40, if I hit 60 or above it turns into complete garble and I have to shut the whole thing off, shut down live, and restart it to get it back. This makes it completely unusable.

I just re-ran the Live 5 performance test on both live 5 and 6. It runs my computer at about 48% (older imac g5) and works just fine with the onboard sound, but has major dropouts on the konnekt 8.

I have updated the firmware, installed the new drivers, tried running it with no other firewire devices attached and am running it with external power. Anyone have any suggestions or is this going back tomorrow?

A shame because the inputs on it sound terrific!

I'm going to try it on a PC now and see if it is a mac driver issue or a konnekt 8 issue, but any advice would be welcome.

Maybe I'll just have to get a used motu 828mkii since that seems to be the only interface I haven't seen a bunch of people complaining about (other than ones that cost north of a grand)
