M-Audio/Live lite 6.0.9 won't work together

Post by porkenheimer » Fri Aug 24, 2007 2:23 am

I have had a multitude of problems and am about to send the m-audio and the live back. What a disaster. I have a fast track pro M-audio device and live will not recognize and/or open the device driver. I loaded ASIO4all v.2 and that made the device active, but that opened up a whole new catalog of issues. i cannot keep it to the device it constantly reverts back to the sound card. once i get it working i cannot adjust the buffers etc. so i just get crackling and once i record a track it won't play back. Any help out there?

mmm..yesterday I bought a Fast Track pro. Installed the driver (I'm on a Mac Osx 10.4.10) - no problem. Install live Lite 6.0.9 > doesn't recognise the Fast Track Pro (can only choose between Core Audio or No Audio).

what's that? Albeton does recognise the Fast Track Pro as midi/device, but not as audio device? Any help would be appreciated!

but ASIO4ALL is for PC's, I don't know why the fast track pro and live lite 6 don't work out of the box :?

(also weird: on the box of the fast track pro is a sticker 'ableton live lite 5 + vst guitar effects + session loops included'...but in the box you find Lite Lite 6 and a protools demo....)

I had the same problem with an alesis product and with the fast track pro wihich I bought after sending the alesis back. Here is how I fixed it :

1. Wipe all traces of Windows Vista from your machine, memory and existance(if you have that particular power), Most of the manufacturers don't support it properly yet. Get xp and be done with it.

Do not plug your device in yet!

2. Install the drivers for your product then re-start. Before plugging your interface in, go to the 'Device Manager' and disable any onboard sound drivers that may have been bundled with your motherboard - just right click and disable.

3. Now plugin your device and you should have some Joy.

The drivers for these interfaces are all much of a muchness and most will have problems if there is onboard sound on your motherboard. Disabling it should negate this problem and have you recording in no time.
I had onboard 'Realtek' drivers on my motherboard that gave out the grief.
Not anymore....
