You know, after browsing this thread for a while, something has become shockingly apparent....
For all the Flak that M-Audio guys get on the Ableton forums, there sure a lot of people using their products (myself included)... Is there a particular reason why they get flamed so much, or are we all just trying to sound like uber-cool Studio Technicians / Engineers who can afford the overpriced rare pre-amps & interfaces made by "better" companies???

same counts for behringer, they are budget. and most people can only invest that much, that doesn't make there products any good, though...
i have one single behringer myself a bcf 2000, it's cheap and it's somehow working, for live playing i thought to myself do i want to spend a lot of money on something i treat like shit, i mean you play... , rough action tweaking the knobs, dust, sweat, heat, spilled drinks, throughing it in a bag in and out, etc. for that if it's fucked, i just get a new one, cause it doesn't rob the bank and no actuall audio travels through it, otherwise i would not ever touch a behringer product.

Nothing, i've got a few M-Audio products myself (Audiophile FW, Trigger finger, & Evolution MIDI keyboard)... and i'm really happy with all of them. of all the gear manufacturers M Audio by far gets the most complaints. part of that is that they sell the most gear but still, they get the most complaints. they dominate the low end gear market and with ANYTHING if you buy cheap gear you can expect cheap results. YMMV, of course some users have ZERO problems ever, it would never be that anyone could say that ALL M Audio gear breaks, they'd be out of business.

A buddy of mine does sound for the casino's in Atlantic City NJ, USA. He sees Top ACTS (according to him) using a lot of behringer gear, as you can trash it, break it, throw it away and buy new stuff and have plenty of $$ left over to put things up your nose. lot's of well established names use m-audio or behringer gear.... look at ritchie hawtin, t raumschmiere, sasha, cinematic ochestra, ... even daft punk has behringer controllers in there piramid!

m-audio stuff is ok. i think their drivers get them a lot of abuse. because they're shit. my FW audiophile doesn't sound too bad (or at least, i isn't the biggest contributing factor to my studio sounding like shit. my non-acoustically treated room is). but the drivers are shite. sometimes it doesn't detect itself. sometimes no sound comes out and you have to restart. sometimes it recognises itself if you press the "reset" button in the software mixer thing. recently it's been doing this thing were if you alter the main out volume it does silent, until you click the headphone "mute" button, then it comes back on. fucking weird. but, 130 quid. you get what you pay for.
