Who thinks this forum needs moderators?

Post by Jonny B » Wed Aug 29, 2007 12:05 am

After the all the spam and potential virus going on this forum i thought who thinks this place needs cleaning up?

Im sure someone who visits the forum regurlar agrees and sure that someone would volenteer to keep this place free of spam.

what ya think?

This has been asked for SOOOO many times. Makes the biggest difference on ALDJ.com.

Yeah, it's pretty good - I'm a member but I rarely ever post - but I do read ALOT and get ALOT of pertinent information regarding "djing" with Ableton

check it out...

does this forum need a moderator? Not really anymore - the dirty xxx spam is lame but you can see that a mile away and there's no need to click on it

it drains to the bottom of the of the pile pretty quick

and if someones really bothering you just block 'em - X Marks the spot, easy (don't know what I'm talking about? Check this out

the forum is moderated, the few who can remove that stuff might be on break.

if you don't want to see 'hard anal fucking' don't click on the post. does your mother still wipe your ass for you too? it's a cold, cruel world full of anal sex, paris hilton's coochie and refinancing mortgages, deal with it. :P

ALDJ.com is pretty mediocre, there's maybe 10 people that post Live tips and stuff, the but the 'DJ types' know the least about Live in general and have a pretty narrow views about hardware.

I voted no. I think we can self moderate it by just NOT posting on the spam threads. If people would stop bumping them, they will drop to the bottom really quickly. The unintended bumping of the pron threads (just to be funny or whatever) is just as much a problem as the initial posting of them. I mean look at this one. 7 replies already and when you login, it's stayed at the top of the list!

However, I do think a "type these letters" or something of that effect should be added to the create a new member page. That would cut it back immensely and no moderation would be required.

If these two things were done, there would be no need for people to tediously waste their time deleting pron threads. The few that would slip through, someone's gonna see it anyway by the time it gets deleted.

What is needed is an off-topic forum and light moderation in the beginning to remind people that they need to use it.

I will admit to bumping spambot posts over the last week. I haven't been a member of this forum for all that long but have seen that topics come in predictable waves and patterns (including this one). I have no new real information or interest in the stock topics that pop up on here but also feel they are needed because there is a noob born every minute. If anything maybe this forum needs a nursery area where noobs can get the same damn 10 questions out of their system and then graduate to the main forum.

I probably need to get out of the house more or something because this has become a staple of where I go to socialize. It's one of the few places I feel I can go and have an interesting conversation or debate or learn something without getting totally shitfaced to tolerate the average person. Hell, I don't even pay attention to the news anymore because I know the most interesting headlines will pop up on here. And now with the recent addition of porn I really don't need to visit any other site.

My vote? I'll wait until the same topic pops up in 3 weeks.

If you are bothered by trolls or spambots simply install this script and you can hide them yourself.
