I think it depends on what you mean by tempo shift. Please describe more precisely.

The fact that nobody has answered your request is a sure sign, that your problem isn't properly described. Do you want to
- just let a drum loop with an original speed of 230 bpm run at 200?
- let one part run at 230 and the other at 200 bpm simultaneously to create some kind of polyrhythmic?
- start at a speed of 230 and slow down automatically to 200 bpm as the song proceeds?

All those things can be accomplished. Please don't make us guess what you exactly want to do.

If you want to slow down or speed up your song, Go to you master track, and select tempo and you can automate it. Hope this helps.

In the Session, tempo automation is done by naming scenes "XXX BPM"

In the Arrangement, tempo automation is done by envelope on the Master track, as noted above.

tempo shifts in session view

Post by dvanscoten » Tue Jun 03, 2008 8:49 pm

longjohns,

is there any way to automate the tempo in session view without having to trigger a new scene?

eg: can you automate a solo section to speed up over 3 scenes without trigger each scene?

That works in Live6 and Live7, but does it work in live5? I think in Live5 you had to right-click a scene & adjust clip launch tempo or something.

As for gradually adjusting the tempo in session view, perhaps you best bet is to actually do it in arrangement view, bounce these loops, and reimport the tempo-changing ones back into session view as one big unwarped scene?

Otherwise, you can trigger new scenes without re-triggering audio clips by disabling the stop buttons in session view (with a right click). Viola, new tempo, but old loops keep playing.

i think i wrote that.
I mean the squares you find on empty clips where you'd find a little triangle in a clip you recorded something on.... this is all in Session view.

the square below the pink "Guiatr03Amish" clip, you can remove that, so that when you trigger the scene containing the guitar clip, and then trigger the next scene down, the guitar clip will continue playing.
