Actually minimonsta seems to have calmed down and started working for me now ... I don't know what I did, but when I started the computer this morning it was just working. It's still a CPU hog, but at least all of the patches are playable now if I take the polyphony down a couple of notches on some of them.
And it does sound very very good.
I'm still kind of wondering whether I should have just got the Arturia one though, this kind of CPU usage is just taking me back to the bad old days of slogging it out on a G4 which I was quite glad to have left behind
minimonsta: crazy cpu spikes?

hey,
same here, huge cpu spikes till 85 % on some unison patches, but nevermind I will use it only for some huge mono basslines (max 20% cpu) , and if I want big big unison sounds I think I'll resample them with standalone monsta..
BUT :
1 ) do you experience crisps and bleeps with the morphing tool? I can't change of patch (inside the metapatch) without hearing some clicks or crisps... (seems okay with really simple patches, but with most of others its crisping...)
2) DO YOU SUGGEST USING VST OR AUDIO UNIT on intelmacs ??
I encounter crisps with AU, perhap's VST is little different?
MINIMONSTA PUNCHES MY ASS WITH LOUD BASSES, I LOVE.
3) anyone could give me a patch resembling to mr oizo's "flat beat" to see if I am really able to give 150$ for a plugin ? (already got a good hardware synth, but no such huge phat bass...)
thanks $ cheers

An update on this - It turns out this was a Live bug and is fixed in Live 6.0.10, from what I can tell...benj_sp wrote:I can confirm I get similar odd behaviour - just recorded a few bars in Live's arrangement with the default MM patch, moved the bars in Live and the octave selectors moved up to the highest position.
I don't know at this stage whether it's a Live issue or a MM issue - I'll have a look and report this to GForce if it's a MM issue...
Edit: Hmm, this happens in Live 6 but not Live 4. As you drag a MIDI block, GUI controls move. I'm wondering if this is related to control surface functionality or something - Live may be sending MIDI while items are being dragged for control surface feedback or something. Dunno.

With the ButterBass, which is 8 voice unison, Live reports 59 %. My three year old P4 3,0 GHz PC report 44 %. But the mac only uses one core for Minimonsta, so in total the mac is better. And Minimosnta is great! One of my favourites, but the MonoPoly is really good too!
One other thing. In Live I can run 16 instances of impOSCar with 8 voices each before it starts to crackle. Macs Activity Monitor reports about 140 %. In Logic Express I can run 26 instances with same buffer setting and Activity Monitor reports around 189 %
Why cannot Live go up so high?
I like both programs to work with, so it's not one or the other.
