control surfaces and Live 6

Post by André » Thu Aug 30, 2007 9:14 pm

Hi,
I own three midi controllers :Bcf 2000, M-audio Trigger Finger and M-audio O2 for playing on the move. All of them are listed in the control surfaces list supported by Live 6.But the truth is I cannot control anything automatically .I have to use the old way, the midi learn funtion. I know I can use the Bcf in Mackie mode (Cubase) but it's good only for Live's mixer and I'd like to control plug ins as well.
So, do I have to wait until Live 7 for it to work all right or is there any other way round?
I just want a straight answer, please...and thanx

straight answers can be found in the manual. ;)

put a device into midi listen mode to upload a template
set is as a device in the Live midi settings
hit the DUMP button in Live
save the preset to your device
it should now automap when it's set as a 'control surface'
In my life
Why do I smile
At people who I'd much rather kick in the eye?

Wrong. See the Live documentation for the Mackie Control.

Press track "select" to select the track.
Press "devices".
Press "page left"/"page right" to step through 8 devices at a time for selected track.
Press v-pot # corresponding to device # to enter device edit mode.
v-pots = plugin parameters.
Press "page left"/"page right" to step through 8 params at a time.
Press "devices" again to get back to device selection.

A software MC screen is your friend...

Tone deft: what is midi listen mode in the case of the BCF, please.
John Pitcairn: "devices"? I am using the emulation mode for Mackie Control (Cubase)
and in the documentation of the emulation modes there is no "devices" command.Im'lost,please.
Thanx
