Success with FW 410

Post by rmacgregor » Sat Sep 01, 2007 11:21 pm

Hey there I had been beating my head against the keyboard all summer with my computer freezing on me. I narrowed it down to a problem with my FW 410 and quicktime. Last week I did a crazy thing, I contacted m-audio and tho' it took a few days, the problem got sorted out.

I had to do an archive and reinstall OX 10.4 then force an install of quicktime 7.1.6 Then do a combo update to 10.4.10 and finally install the latest FW 410 driver. There was a bit of moving files around after that, but in the end the problem got solved. I would recommend to anyone else who is having problems with their 410 to contact m-audio's tech support.

So let me get this straight.. Macs aren't perfect?

EDIT: Please disregard my completely jackassed statement. I actually wasn't trying to be a troll for an argument so dead they should stuff the horse and use it to help train noobies. I think I was just feeling the sting of an elitism I think is a complete crock. A complete bonehead at a supermarket thought that I would absolutely bust a nut after getting my new mac and basically insulted my wide knowledge of PC's. "Oh, my new mac is the shiz! whatever was I thinking in actually trying to learn how to use computers!?" Honestly I don't think that either is better than the other. And I've been learning to like where apple has been going in general lately. *nix/Intel. Macs are Far from perfect. But so are PC's.

Its M-Audio, they're shit. the FW1814 I bought never worked, after 20 hours fucking around with drivers and re-installs I sent it back and got a MOTU ULTRALITE and what do you know it worked straight away and without the drivers!!

Any chance of the details for the process you went through?? I'm having similar problem but not using m-audio stuff. I'm using a fireface 800... but maybe this fix will help me anyway. Thanks alot! Would be great if you could copy and paste those instructions you got from m-audio.

Cheers!
