hi im using D830, strange thing happen, im using a echo audiofire 4 firewire sound device, when i use the power adapter (battery charger) with my dell , the audiofire freeze , but when i pull out the power & run on battery alone everything runs solid like a rock, i even throw in lots of heavy duty third party plug in like psp vintage warmer, waves plug in etc........
wat the f**k happen man............
could it be the power adapter of my echo? cuz i have tested with a different dell adapter & its still the same........

something strange here like that

when I plug my headphones in while Torq or Ableton is running the program freezes

my conectiv soundcard is directly plugged into my mixer so I know it's a grounding thing - some surge of electricity gets sent to the computer and shorts the program

sometimes I forget about this and am like "doh!"

Buying a computer in pieces can be the best way to go, but it works out better if you really know what you're doing. Configuring IRQs and windows etc. can prove to be a real kick in the nuts if you get it wrong 8O

Good choice about installing XP though. But Vista will eventually be a good system when it has drivers optimized for it by the 3rd party manufacturers of audio ans MIDI interfaces etc.
