Honestly I don't see Apple as doing much good with Logic so far. The first Apple branded version, Logic Pro 7 was buggy as hell for about 9 months before they put out updates that fixed 95% of the ones I had at least.theque wrote:apple have bought a lot of software companies, made the program better, bundled it and made it cheaper in many cases. like final cut pro and motion. so it might be good.
They made it cheaper all told, every plug in included, etc. but not allowing Emagic/Logic programmers to release a newer version last year put Logic as the oldest DAW point release wise out there.
I hope they learned their lesson from the 7 release and whenever they put it out it's dead stable, but at this rate Logic will be so far behind, that Live will have all the extensive MIDI editing and other neat tricks Logic does before Logic does anything as intuitively or as live instrument like as Live does. We'll see, it's definitly about time for a new version, before they end up like Studio Vision.

Bwahahahahahahah - thanks for the laugh I think I needed to read that one.
Still giggling too myself as I type
Somewhere between a rock and a hard place is actually nowhere.

Looks like Sir Paul is going to announce some kind of Apple/Beatles/iTunes deal as well:

Indeed. LP is actually having a hard time keeping up with even the Apple hardware releases, for some at least. And, even when they do, they charge you for it.Machinesworking wrote:Honestly I don't see Apple as doing much good with Logic so far. Core Audio Overload problems galore. Wheeh... fun, fun, fun. Didn't used to happen this much.
MIDI drift when controlling external equipment. Wheeh... fun, fun, fun. Used to be spot-on for me, but useless now (I actually use Cakewalk Sonar for this stuff now).
Between those two, and the dongle (archaic, and prevents me from taking LP mobile, since I'm quite paranoid about it), and what I perceive as the app being all but abandoned... I'm pretty much done with the app.
Interestingly, I actually bought Ableton Live specifically for use on my Macbook. I didn't want to take LP's dongle around with me, so I got Live hoping to use it as my mobile scratch-pad.
Now, for me, it's all but eclipsed Logic Pro. I definitely miss the bundled effects/instruments, but I'm alright with 3rd party ones.
We'll see. Maybe they'll eventually get around to releasing an update, but the rumors of LP8 have been going on for well over 2 years. Doesn't make me think they actually care about the app, or the userbase.
