We are going to put Fire blazing on the radio for battle groundz soon. Please give me feedback on the track(s). Battle groundz is a competition for radio play with local artist in Atlanta, GA. Tarekith did the mastering for me by the way.

Unless your tracks sound like Ed Banger songs don't expect a lot of response's on here to "check out my shit" posts.
I'm no authority on Hip Hop but it sounds like it could easily be wedged between current Hip Hop being played on the radio and I can only base this on my limited exposure to current Hip Hop which consists of people rollin' next to me in traffic with all 4 windows down while I'm trying to talk on the fucking phone.
Seriously, cool tracks and best of luck on the competition. Sounds like Atlanta is the place to be for Hip Hop right now.

cool, NOT another ed banger...
smoove man.
I'd turn the pad/strings up in the mix a bit, not the 303ish line but the stuff under it.
respect to anyone who can rap without swearing, not that I care but it shows a higher level of skill.

First, I'm going to preface this by saying that I could NEVER flow like that, and perhaps my opinion re: hiphop doesn't mean shit - it probably shouldn't to you - but I'm pretty sure your looking for honest, constructive criticism, so here it goes....
The instrumental is hot. I appreciate the fact that it has a fairly complex lead piano part, and it varies enough to not be really repetitive. Also, I'm impressed with the mixing; well balanced, clear (on my system at least, which is still lacking real monitors).
I can definitely tell you're from the A.T.L. (Good, no?)
The verses kinda sound like a really slow Big Boi song. That should be a huge compliment, but I don't think that's what you're going for. I could be wrong.
The bv's are a little distracting and need work to flow more seamlessly with the melody. The chorus is a little muddy for my taste.
What's the story/plot of the song? Is it, "I'm harder and better than you are"? A song doesn't need a story, and certainly not a complicated story, but I like it when they do.
That's what I would do if it were my track. Don't ask me how many finished tracks I have. It's embarrassing. That's why you have this post and not me, so take it for what it's worth - with a grain of salt.
Keep it up, and keep us update on the competition.

Thanks tone deft. I'm into to making good beats with good lyrics. We are not trying to come up off a dance. I'm looking for a lifetime of music not 15 minutes of fame. I have many other tracks that have different feels but I think for our come up we need to keep it south but with a different flavor until we get up on the ladder some. I also mess with the guitar in my tracks now.

It's hard to tell from the crappy myspace audio, but:
Mixdown needs a little work... the bg chords are a bit muddied by the other bass (I don't think they need to be louder, just punch some holes in them) and the piano sounds really dry. Also maybe do a bit more stereo shit in the breakdown around 2:30 (and then come back with more punch than before the breakdown).

Cool gaijin1717 thanks for being honest. If it hits it will be re did anyway. I mixed the best I could. I do and don't want your first thought to be he's from Atlanta. We picked this song out the list because all of the people that heard it liked it. The plot is we are coming for the top spot so get better or get ran over.
I will keep you guys updated about the battle groundz.

My feedback: The rapping is good, the recordings are clean. I like how you used doubling and panning to differentiate parts of the song...nice changes in spacial placement for the vocals! The drum beat is just ok...I think the bass kick isn't deep enough for rap. The 808 snare and hats are great. The filtered bassline is good, but it sounds a bit thin. I'd bump the EQ on it at somewhere between 500 - 1000hz, and add some crunch...perhaps some Saturator. The piano sound starting out is a little too Chocolate Rain for me...perhaps due to proximity to the recent YouTube hit, bit it gives me the creeps. I like it later in the song, and I also like the bell sound with the same notes, but having the song start with that didn't ring well with me.
Anyways, hope that was helpful...as usual, I give you straight up feedback, hold no punches, and I won't mind at all if you used none of my comments to make any changes...this is, after all, YOUR music.

Thanks neb. I think the changes can be made but I don't want to bug Tarekith anymore about re sending the mix for another master. with local artists that come up and the song wastn't the best of quality they will get it re mixed like it was the original mix. The average joe doesn't care long as it sounds good and it is bumpin.
