Rendering problem

Post by mortalicious » Thu Sep 06, 2007 2:52 pm

hi, i am using live 6 and when i render a track (in this particular case in the arrangement view) the BPM changes from whatever i have set it in the upper left corner to 120BPM? when i play the track in live the BPM is correct, say 128BPM ? any suggestions?

thanks

if i change the BPM in the upper left hand corner to 145 and then render the track, the new BPM is 133? so weird.

Hi,

See in the Master track in arrangment, if there would be some automation for the Song Tempo, that could be a reason.

Otherwise, did you turn Warp OFF when you re-import the file? Maybe Live is guessing wrong about the file's tempo?

hi
and thanks for the response.

i see the master, in the arrangement, however what i read is 'song tempo - and at the bottom of that drop down box it reads 'show automated parameters only'. is this what you are talking about?

ive also noticed that the time line on the bottom of the arrangement (0:00, 1:00, 2:00 etc) does not reflect the bpm. the time line in fact reflects the proper time?

when i load a track into live it does read the correct bpm (i see this in the bottom left hand window, next to where i warp.)

thanks

Hi,

- Yes, I'm refereing to "Song Tempo". If you select it, you'll see an automation line, which defiunes the automation for the tempo. If there is no breakpoint in the line, it means there is no automation written.

- Yes, the time ruler at the bottom of the arrangement is the real time, it never changes. The top rulerbar is the beat time, so it adapts visually according to the tempo of the set or the tempo automation.

- If the BPM of the clip you import in Live is correct, and Warp if OFF, it will play at the correct tempo. Alternatively, if Warp is ON and you set the tempo of the Live set to the same tempo as the clip, the clip will play at the right tempo too. Be aware that playing a Warped clip at it's original tempo as I just described, using the Complex Warp mode is not neutral. You should use any other Warp mode in case of no tempo change.

maybe there is something wrong with the configuration of my computer?

for example, if i run ableton into my mixer the auto bpm will read the correct bpm (that which is right next to TAP), however when i run xlr cables from my mixer to my cd burner, record what is playing, burn it, then open up the burned cd into my computer the bpm reads 122bpm?

so i have confirmed that the problem is with my computer. if i take the cd that i have burned and play it in the burner then the bpm is correct. so my computer must be doing something to make the bpm change. i dont know what thoug...

ok i figured it out. the problems was that i use a M Audio Delta 1010 soundcard, and i also have SoundMax installed on my computer. So i went into soundmax and made sure everything was dissabled and that fixed the problem. I dont know exactly why, but i really dont care as long as everything works.

thanks again for trying to help me, i appreciate it.
