Strange Auto-Filter Midi-Mapping

ableton-versions 5 - 6:

it's fucking impossible for me to make a cut-off auto-filter midi-mapping for djing. now i'm working with a single-knob-filter, but that's a little delicate vst-plug, especially when you're working with 8 tracks for djin' and on each track you have this vst-plug placed. to conserve cpu i thought, back to the
ableton auto-filter. but hey, i'm getting crazy with this fucking midi-mapping.....what i want to to with a EVOLUTION X-SESSION midi-controller:

map rotary knob:

wet = 0 (knob down) = 292 hz, q 0.76 -> for me, that's the cut-off i want
dry = 63.5 (12 o'clock) = 26.0 h, q 0.76

so far so good. but now, when i wanna bring back the beat in, i have to turn the knob from 0 to 127, and that's a to long way for me and totaly feels unhandily.

i want, that the beat is back in the 12 o'clock position.

com'on abes?!? that's basic-stuff........

I'm not sure I get it. Sorry but you'd have to explain it a bit differently: What do you expect? What do you get? How do you set things up?

thanx amaury.....

what i get is:

cut-off = 0 = rotary knob is turn down to the left side
beat back = 127 = rotary knob is turn up to the right side

what i want:

cut-off = 0 = rotary knob is turn down to the left side
beat back = 63.5 = rotary knob is turn up to the 12 o'clock-position

compare this function to a classical club-mixer, for example the allen & heath. knob down = cut-off, knob in 12 o'clock = dry (beat is in)

midi-mapping with auto-filter:

292 hz should be on 12 o'clock
26.0 hz should be on 0 = rotary knob is turn down to the left side.

get it?

Hi,

Well, I again checked. When you map the ON/OFF switch of the Autofilter, the default range is [Min 64] [Max 127]. When I turn the knob, at 0 (all the way to the left), the autofilter is OFF. Turning the knob, the Autofilter turns ON when reaching 64, "12 O'clock". Isn't it what you're after?

BTW, 63.5 is not possible. MIDI controllers only send entire values, so you either have to choose 63, 64 or 65.

yes, that's a solution, but i doesn't work cleanly.

example:

if you map this on/off-function to a rotary-knob like the one of the evolution x-session-controler, the result is, that in the left-position "0" the filter is off (cut-off), 12 o'clock is on (beat is in). but if you go over the 12 o'clock-position, the filter is off again. that's unfit for a club-gig, especial if it's dark behind the dj-booth. so you have to be very accurate with turning the knobs, otherwise you'll make another cut-off if you go over 12 o'clock.

what i want is:

0 = off
12 o'clock = on

if you move the rotary-knob to 13 o'clock, the filter should still be on.

the only ableton-plug that works is the eq-8:

gain = -15 = 0
gain = 0 = 64
gain = +15 = 127

but that's another range. you can't do that mapping with the auto-filter, and on/off ist not the proper solution.

mmm... for me, the device is still ON, from 64 to 127... To get it OFF, then ON at 64, then OFF, I'd have to set the min at 63, and the max at 65. Again, having the min at 64, and the max at 127, it works as you want it, at least here!

But I'm a bit confused: is it really the ON/OFF button that you want to control? Of another knob?

Does this have to do with the new mapping behavior, which is only a part of 6.0.9 and .10 (right?)

Yes, I forgot to tell: I'm trying in 6.0.10. Definitely, the default range (min=64 and max=127) does exactly what you expect, so there may be something else that differs in our ways/setup.
