How does it compare with the xone 3d? There was a similar thread last year before 3d came out and someone was saying that DJM800 midi was crappy.

edit: What about the xone 2d too?

i have djm800 mixer, i bought one just as they came out. The reason i bought it is pioneer are pretty solid, reliable, with loads of effects and extras under the bonnet to master, it's magic just like ableton. i first used the mixer to master cd and vinyl turntables for djing in clubs, etc. Now most clubs you play in, has this mixer so it was good for me that way. It was worth buying also because you could use mixer as a midi interface, just now i am using m-audio midisport uno cable to transfer the midi data to the mixer.i then midi map the buttons, fader's etc to mixer, as i think a better feel than using a mouse or hitting buttons rather on a pro macbook or mac g5.

i am now considering a few other options to improve on the dreaded latency and to get more output's, because pro macbook does'nt give you enough output's for cueing in headphones, because as i've already used a 2 to 1 audio jack into the mixer. i tried in vain but with no gain in rerouting the line in on the mac software to goto the line out for cueing. After that tried configure in ableton programme, but it seems no can do. may one day?

Anyone got info on the best interface's or audio cards to use with djm800, like the Echo audiofire 4, Echo INDIGO DJ card or any other brands or tools that would do the job for cueing, outputs and inputs for djing or could you use M-Audio Trigger Finger to do the above as well as storing samples.

muzik is escapism,

keep it unreal have fun,

have a nice day!!

already posted this in a another topic, i found a big disadvantage on the midi-sync option of the DJM800:

a friend of mine wants to integrate ableton into his djsets, and he has a djm800. I spent the whole saturday with him, trying to find a way to easily sync the mixer with ableton, but i came to one conclusion:

you cannot perfectly sync it without manually correcting your vinyl/cdj, because of this:

when you normally sync two digital devices (like two laptops, or a drumcomputer and laptop) via midi, the midi-clock kind of "drops in" via pulses, and automatically corrects the steps he is behind, and then ticks along the other device...

with the DJM800, i found that you manually have to start the sync, and not starting it, whereafter ableton picks up the pulses of the djm, but just starts playing when you've pressed the button...

this is a big mistake in my opinion, since you have to be a genius (or just lucky) to press the button at the right time, without being parts of a second behind (or in advance)...

Briden, someone recently posted an extensive thread on this forum about how they had set up and use their DJM800, you should do a search for it. It might not answer all of your questions, but seeing that you actually own the unit I think you will find it interesting.

I seem to remember it being in tips and tricks, but it might have been here in general. Usually I'd take the time to track it down myself, but I'm on vacation and I'm feeling pretty lazy at the moment.

Congrats on the mixer, I'm a pioneer fan myself. My old DJM 500 has served me well for about - sheesh I'd say about 5 years now. Yup, just checked with my wife, we bought it in November of 2002. The next one I buy will be an 800.
