Multiple MIDI Controls, one Parameter
Multiple MIDI Controls, one Parameter
Hi,
Sorry if this has been awnsered recently (looked around the forums a bit and RTFM). I'm trying to map multiple MIDI controllers to one Parameter, but whenever I try to assign one to the Parameter the previous Midi CC gets erased. Is there any way I can have 2+ controlling one parameter?

I haven't really found a way to this on purpose. but when i use a MIDI Controller through USB that has native support like the Novation ReMOTE SL and then another controller not natively supported but mapped like the Faderfox LC2. I can control the same parameter such as the mute groups. I suppose if you have the controllers both sending the same CC on the same channel then you can have multiple controllers manipulating that one parameter. But it's weird because i think when i checked out what the Novation was sending (which won't show up in the MIDI mapping browser). I think it was sending different messages.
Macbook Pro 15" Core Duo 2.16ghz 2GB ram; Live 6.0.10; Live 7.0.7; Digi 003 Rack; Novation Remote Zero SL;Faderfox micromodul LC2, Korg Kontrol49; M-Audio Trigger Finger
hi 966,
that makes sense, thanks for the input/idea.
would still like to know if its possible to set different CC to one parameter. would be nice to be able to consolidate everything to say a bitstream 3x, and be able to tweak a constant VST while switching through different channels to bring other pieces in

what i would like is to be able to map two CC´s to the same knob/button, for finetuning.
ie, you have a 0 to 127 macro knob mapped to cc8 (currently a filter knob for an instrument), which then ofcourse goes from complteley boring to extra filtered (obviously), but then i want to be able to fine tune that current setting with cc7, so that it goes +-5% of the current value (for example).
anyone know is this is possible in any way, or do i need thirdparty software for this (like max/msp or pd?
been bugging me for quite some time now.
not trying to steal your thread here, just continuing on the topic i guess.
going to try the multiple controller option, but im pretty sure it wont work, check back in just a few.

yeah, id like that too, mainly for scaling.
also id like the ability to select whether a button (in racks then, beat repeat modes for example), should cycle thorugh all the modes of just mode a to b.
so far i have to group it, macro the thing i want, then map the macroed knob to the knob i wanna use for it, and scale it down from 0-127 to say.. 0-75 to avoid gate mode at all.
not sure if it can be scaled with midi mapping, because i havent tried, been making some mashup racks. so i just want the knobs on the master rack, hook them up to my controller and play.
then i have to take that road, anyone know a simpler way of doing that? i dont want the gate mode dammit :p

you know, i feel quite stupid realising that would most likely work, and that i havent even considered that option.longjohns wrote:my best idea would be to use another app to translate the MIDI cc's
so you could map cc1 in ableton, but translate cc2 through cc10 all to cc1, for example.
I think that is possible (?)
hah me.
then again, who wants a workaround?
i say they include this is Live 7 as a feature instead.
thank you.

Why wait around. this is very easy to do in MaxMSP or PD. honestly you could put together a patch to accomplish this in a day or two.friend_kami wrote:you know, i feel quite stupid realising that would most likely work, and that i havent even considered that option.longjohns wrote:my best idea would be to use another app to translate the MIDI cc's
