How I *nearly* got screwed by winning Komplete4
wow. you are such a dick!parma wrote: I am glad they did the stand-up thing and remedied the situation.
first novamusik are an awesome company.
why the fuck didn't you wait until you got the prize before selling your existing copies? you are responsible for your actions. stop blaming others.
the fault (if any) is with NI. I'm sure they asked Novamusik to run the contest for them to generate some interest. They have no control over upgrade policies.
You did indeed recieve a copy of komplete.
Probably the worst is that you choose to do all this in a public forum before you even give Novamusik a chance to help you out.
You depress me.

Who do you think controls the upgrade policy? NI does!parma wrote: And I in no way think NI is responsible for this misunderstanding.
Who could (if they wanted to) give you the upgrade? NI.
you = moron

dinsync... easy for you to say. parma said he made a mistake but it's obvious (though maybe not to you for whatever reason) he was not primarily to blame. what's it to you anyway. calm down. put away the hate.dinsync wrote:Who do you think controls the upgrade policy? parma... ignore dinsync.
and, dinsync... don't bother ripping back into me, I won't respond.

Glad you got it worked out.
Novamusik are a decent company, i ordered a couple of things from them which they delivered to me in Canada and everything was smooth.
the comments about the poster being a dick were unwarranted, we all make mistakes...

Cool, glad Novamusic and NI worked it out for you!parma wrote:UPDATE:
a happy ending!
I just spoke with Novamusik and they worked out a deal with NI. I can upgrade to Komplete 5 for $199 when it is released.
I am glad they did the stand-up thing and remedied the situation.
So, thanks Novamusik and thanks NI.
I have to say I have had the exact opposite experience with NI that a lot of people are posting here. I bought Komplete 2 and Komplete Care 05, got many great things etc.
So the following year I decided to bite on Komplete Care 06 in July, when nothing had come out yet, because Ni promised UB versions of everything with KC 06. NI came through, and were so embarrassed and frightened by their bad publicity that they gave us KC 06 users a copy of Massive for free, and a coupon for $180 from the NI shop.
I just used that coupon to get Komplete 5 for $49!!
Komplete 4 owners get the Kore software upgrade for $59!
Basically I could give a shit about Logic being cheap etc. as a long time loyal customer to Logic I get a few things, but nothing like what I got from NI.
So, basically there is ALWAYS a cut off line for upgrades etc. it's not a mystery, but as a person who has paid actually very little for KC 06 and 05 I have gotten a lot for the money.
To me anyway, Live plus Komplete is pretty much perfect. Oh, and Kontakt 3 has a reallyu good looking beat slicer!

Oh and just to be a tiny amount
I used to get into it with people online about NI, and all the negativity that the company generates, and people toss at it. Seriously, they are not as bad as people make them out to be, they just seem to miss the bar on public relations. Seriously, Ableton can sell a sampler with as little features as Sampler has, and for a lot, but people forgive them, NI sell a sampler with a ton of features, and the first bug is a deal breaker, or the upgrade price, or they bought it on sale, and were surprised when NI release a new version, or are surprised when they get a shabby discount from a Komplete 2 to 4 or 5 etc ........ but then I realized that it just meant that I had one more weapon in my arsenal than them, and NI seem to be doing OK.
Reactor 3 and Kore 1.0 were pretty bad on mac though!!

novamusik sucks
first off, i also had an issue with novamusik in the past.
and i totally won.
i spend well over 2500 with them, and for the first few months they were really cool cats.
but them some dude who works there (i cant remember the guys name)
send me an already opened box of studio monitors that were damaged.
I asked them to send me a new set as that is what i paid for & what i ordered. I did not order second hand /open box monitors from them.
they told me they tested them and they worked fine even through the wood on the side was broken! they would not refund me my money or accept the shipment back from me!
they tried to shove me off. sooo I called my credit card company & they instantly gave me the entire credit for the transaction I placed with NovaMuisk!
This transaction included a few other items that i did intend to keep, but no way was i going to let them rip me on the monitors.
the next day novamusik called me & were very upset that the credit card company just took the sale away from them! leaving me with all the power & them with none, because I also canceled my credit card so they could not issue a charge to me.
I explained to them that I would gladly pay for the items I recieved & intended to keep, but in no way did i intend to pay for the broken monitors and the shipping for them.
they had no choice but to bend over and take them back, because I could of treated them like they treated me.
in the end, i won because i used a great credit card company that takes care of its customers & knows how businesses like novamusik choose to operate (dishonestly)
I will not be using them again. And urge others not to.
Hey NOVAMUSIK! how'do you like them apples! hahahahaha

Your experience seems untypical, we had threads recently on the subject of which retailers are decent and Novamusik was one of the most recommended ones. But people are people and some people when having a bad day get their backs up and won't budge. Especially if you get too aggressive and insult them right away (courtesy and manners usually is a better first approach, like if you complain about your food in a restaurant in an aggressive manner, they send you out a replacement that they snotted in, pissed in or whatever to get back at you)
I am still waiting on a product I ordered 3 YEARS ago from one well known company who have refused to answer my emails for the past year. They still say my product is on backorder. It was only for a $49 reason refill but given that they are a US company and I am Canadian. They refunded my $49 after 2 years after I wrote their CEO, they denied my order existed for 2 years, even though I had emails with confirmation numbers and my VISA bill, they tried to claim it was not their confirmation and denied receiving payment, etc.

nova
leedsquietman, agreed.
I however was totally happy with the goods and services that novamusik supplied me. They actually DID send me out 3 different replacements for a few synthesizers that had bug problems. And were totally willing to keep sending me replacements until i got one that actually worked.
But for some reason they just got ugly with me on the studio monitors, which i could not understand.
It was unfortunate for both parties, because I thought i had found a great & honest dealer. And they had a great (paying) returning customer.
I try to buy directly from the manufacturer these days. But thats mostly software etc...

I hope this doesn't become a "bash Novamusik" thread.
I've purchased several things from them in the past and all the purchases were smooth. I plan on purchasing from them in the future as well.
When this Komlete thing went down, after I sent them an email explaining the situation, the owner called me personally to say that he spoke with NI and they worked it out so that I can upgrade my license.
I knew as soon as I posted the original post that some people would think I was jumping the gun by posting my experience before getting Novamusik or NI's side of the story - but I really was shocked and there are few people in my "real" life that would even have any idea what a "plugin" is, so I came to the internets to vent. I made sure to update the post once a resolution was reached and even change the title of the thread to something non-inflammatory without erasing the content.
As for dinsync, I was going to respond to him but then I took a look at his post history and it seems such comments are par for the course for him - so I won't give him the pleasure.

bashing nova
no, i don't believe this thread is about bashing nova musik, as others have pointed out, many have had a easy experience with them.
some like them & will be return customers. and some will not.
it is pretty common to have people have bad & good experiences, and with the huge amount of selection we have regarding who to give our business to.
as far as forum members calling other forum members names & downright insulting them, that also is unfortunately common.
OT- i really wish some hardware manufactures & software companys would allow you to buy directly from them via a web store, so we can bypass any middle man problems & extra costs they might add on. (regardless of the msrp)

nice man!
I'm glad this worked out for you, I agree that maybe they should've told you about this, but like you said "gift horses, and mouths and all"
I'm glad more music related companies are acting like ableton and treating their customers helpfully. In somewhat odd situations.
thanks for the thread, in the end we can all be reminded that an upgradable license in the hand is maybe not worth a komplete in the bush.
