Ableton + hardware: What?

I'm thinking to buy Allen & Heath Xone:1D to control Ableton Live.

The mixer is the Gemini CS-02 (5-Channel Stereo Mixer ).

But I don't know, what external soundcard to buy and how to connect everything for a good operation.

Whats your budget?

Have you looked at the Korg Zero 8 & 4 yet?

Allen & Heath makes great stuff but a bit spendy. What about the 2D? That has an audio interface built in to the same midi controller as the 1D.

What are your specific needs? How many outputs you need? Do you actually need a DJ mixer at all? I personally don't use one and do all mixing in Live itself controlled by midi controllers.

Anyway lots of audio interfaces out there so give us more info on exactly what you need and w could make some recommendations.

Dont trust Firewire if your on PC...
if your on MAC the Korg Zero4/8 look tasty...

Me...
Id go with the RME multiface Cardbus and an analog mixer...

firewire works fine on PC.

there are problems with specific chipsets (most non TI) but apart from that it works with no probs.

I had my bad experiences with fw devices.....

...So no ...firewire doesnt work so fine on pc....

actually firewire does work fine on pc, as long as you have the compatible chipsets.

That RME link pretty much says that everything is now working, nearly at full speed, and that you wouldnt notice the difference anyway.

i support Firewire PCs with video cameras recording sound and video every day, and have no problems. its all about putting the PC hardware puzzle together properly.

are you talking about firewire 800? firewire works fine here, but i admit i'm not using an rme device or one that requires firewire 800... from what i've read it is dependent on chipset (avoid non TI chipsets, or replace the , and it's difficult to get a powered firewire solution in a laptop (there is a few though)
