*To my best understanding of it, a preset is found within a MIDI
controller and in that you can save X number of 'templates and
configs' to control various elements of a DAW.
Please, correct me if im wrong because my question would be if i can
program each preset for specific uses. How can i get this hardware to
work for me like that? For example, lets say i want to program my
Trigger Finger to manipulate various elements of Ableton live such as
sliders and as a loop punch in punch out tool, basically using the
pads as buttons.
Then, have another preset (#2) control a mapped out midi drum kit
that im using with my ezdrummer vst...
Then, have another specific button layout on my TR to manipulate the
vst.
Is this how presets are used, and if so, is it through enigma where i
would set this up like this. Would i simply create a new entire bank
where all 16 of my presets are set to MIDI learn?
**Now about Channels...
When im using multple devices and i want to designate a specific
keyboard synth to a specific midi controller, do i give it a single
channel or have it work on broadcast? (i just basically want the
instrument to work exclusively with the controller and not interfere
playing other sounds)
***If im using Ableton live and am mapping all my commands through
the MIDI learn mode, what is then the point of using enigma software
if ableton is the only program im using right now. (though i connect
reason to it through rewire)
-Sorry for so many questions, these are just the fuzzy topics in my
head right now when learning about computer music and such. I didnt
think i should make a new message for each questions, rather just the guys who i know can help me just knock it all out in one post ;D.
I can clarify anything if you need me to.

*I posted this in the General Forum as well, but i really think it belonged here better. If you can close that thread in 'General'. Thanks.

Yes it is like that, more or less.m_three10 wrote:*To my best understanding of it, a preset is found within a MIDI

You can use a specific channel in order to control a specific software instrument. However, if you use a controller for only one instrument (e.g. a midi keybord only for your e-piano-plug-in) then it might be enough to just choose the midi-keyboard as midi-device in the track's in/outs, without specifying a channel.**Now about Channels...

The built in presets of your midi-controller might have overlapping assignments, e.g. the same cc on button 1 in preset one and preset two of the controller. With enigma you can edit your own presets, avoiding this. Or on the contrary, maybe you want to have the same assignment for a button or fader on all presets. This could be the master volume on a specific fader on all presets for example.***If im using Ableton live and am mapping all my commands through

hope this helps
I think the one thing im cloudy on is the channels...
My TF by default sends information on channel 10.
What exactly does this mean?
Can each preset send information to one channel at a time? or can i, for example split my 16 pads (8 and
and have half of them sending on channel 5 and the other half on channel 10?
Or if i wanted to get even crazier, assign each pad with a channel (though i dont see the purpose in this...)
So in sending information to two different channels, would this in essence allow me to 'split' a 49 key keyboard and half maybe an octave reserved for a synth and the rest for a drum module?
All of this through enigma correct?
