midi out of VST's only monophon

Post by akust » Sun Apr 22, 2007 6:37 pm

Hi,

I made a note quantizer in Reaktor. It works, but unfortunately not really good in Live: chords are divided into random single notes. In other Host it works.

to reproduce you need to prepare the following:
- have Reaktor5 (Version 5.1.2.009, Demo mode is enough)
- get my quantize Ensemble
- load it into midi track "A" as Instrument
- load into midi track "B" an impulse kit or a polyphone simpler (or the like)
- route B midi input to A's "Reaktor5"
- activate monitoring in both A and B
- activate playback (clock needs to be running)
- hectically play notes ;)
> you get well quantized and gated notes
> but unfortunately chords are broken into single notes

I checked with Kore2 midi out beta as well - inside Kore it works correct, outside (sending midi into live) it's the same like Reaktor. So I think it could be a problem in Live (6.0.5).

Would be nice if this could work - one could make many things with Reaktor>midi.

BTW: It is also impossible to plug in Reaktor as Midi-FX.

Reaktor Sequencer's output is only monophonic in Live 6.09

Post by UnderwaterSunlight » Mon Sep 17, 2007 1:12 pm

I have also only monophonic Reaktor Sequencer output when hosting them in Live 6. Any Reaktor SYNTHS, however, work like a charm also in polyphonic mode.

I work with PC under Win. XP SP2 and Live 6.09 (but in the changelog to version 6.0.10 the problem's solution wasn't addressed either.)

Oooh, how I long to have polyphonic Reaktor sequencer output...

Please, dear Abletonians, resolve that issue very soon now.

Cheers,

Bidule does the Trick... Its not a case of all VST's having a monophonic midi out. It just seems to be Reaktor's midi out and Live have trouble talking. If you load Bidule as a VST, then use that to host Reaktor as a VST, you should find it works ok. Theres posasibly other stuff like Bidule which would work Energy XT for one. I myself find Bidule a lot less cluttered and sorts these problems out rather painlessly.

Would be nice if someone could sort this problem out though... Hard to tell who is at fault here (Ableton or NI). Ive lived with this Bidule/Reaktor cobination a while now (since Live5) so Ive got used to it.
