i run my whole sample database through that mixed in key software.
it's actually a hell of a lot more useful in the studio than it ever could be 'live'.

Actually detecting the pitch of a drum hit is quite difficult, no software will do it accurately. The base frequencies of these things vary so much that it's just noise really.
