pitch detection for drum samples

how can i detect the pitch of a drum sample i.e. a snare or a kick ?
is there any software that can do it for me ?

i run my whole sample database through that mixed in key software.

it's actually a hell of a lot more useful in the studio than it ever could be 'live'.

Actually detecting the pitch of a drum hit is quite difficult, no software will do it accurately. The base frequencies of these things vary so much that it's just noise really. Unless you are using a drum synth - but in that case most will tell you the key.
