Ok I apologize for bitching but I won't stop using OSX and I am not going to write my own OS. Just because something isn't as practical as it could be doesn't mean we should all just shut up and stop discussing solutions/workarounds. Ableton Live gets better and better because so many users gives feedback and discuss features on the feature request section of this forum.

Well, one or two keys or ten keys is no problem. But when you're listening to several hundred files you have to also click hundreds of times. Many people got CTS/RSI from clicking to much and I too feel a little sore in my shoulder now and then.
And coming from Vista I love OSX!

audiofinder has what looks like most of those features, have you seen the demo video they put up recently on iced audios site, it's great, one thing i'd be surprised if audio ease charges les than the cost of audiofinder

Previewing in iTunes isn't practical anyway because one has to double click each audio file. Finders preview should be the preferred way. The thing is that in column view one can navigate very smoothly using the arrow keys. When you find the audio folder you press right arrow and the folder opens in the next column and you use the arrow keys to find your audio file and then it would be very convenient if you could just hit the right arrow once again to play back the file but finder just moves one step down to the next file
Would it be possible to make automator press the play button when I hit the arrow key?

It is a shame there's no way to start playback without the mouse click, but I do find Finder's ability to preview at all awesome. Especially as it'll preview pretty much any file type or quality, always bugged me that you couldn't play 24bit files in WMP without add ons. Finder is great for sorting samples and things too.

Ain't winAmp for mac? IT does exactly what you want. Click, auto play, auto stop.
