not that this is serious thread in any way,
but i dont think Logic is trying to compete with Live.

fetures like Launch Mode and the easy-setup of external MIDI controlling is what keeps Live what it is. People have been asking for Ableton to give it extra DAW like features for years, but it hasnt responded (within reason) for a very good reason.

Once it starts to include more DAW-like elements from Logic, Cubase, Pro Tools or whatever, it starts to compete in a completely different market, a market it can't compete in. You're talking about competing with Apple, Avid and Yamaha and as big as Ableton is, it can't afford to compete like that, and besides theres no point.

Live is a live performance tool and Ableton are really clever to keep that essence alive. Personally I think I'm going to get Logic 8 and use it as my main DAW (even though I've been on Live since v.3) but it doesn't mean I'm gonna stop using Live!
I'm gonna use it to bash out ideas and jam with my friends, just what I do now.

Live will never be able to record a live band with loads of mics because, it's not supposed to. I'm happy to use both because Live is awesome and Logic looks great too. I'll bash out my ideas in Live and maybe do some arranging and when I'm happy I'll move to Logic.

makes sense to me! theres no need for them to compete. It's like comparing analogue and digital. They're both great and neither are going anywhere!
