consensus when Sampler was released:
"..if it were $50 cheaper I would've bought it.."
current consensus:
"..I want Sampler for free.."
whats next?
if you only want it for free,
you dont NEED it..
if you really NEEDED it,
you would've paid the initial price..
its not just a toy to have, for the sake of just having it..

i was using my logic 5.5 (for exs work) on my (now defunct)pc for a while,
it was the biggest shit with LE7, crippled software, and now a bliss,
oh , BTW, just wandering if you have the same problem explaining to the Mrs why we need the 2 ? (i.e.- Live & Logic), hahahaha !
and another thing , i totally agree with you on your consensus summary !. .
and my current one is," Apple shop is 50 clicks from my studio, i'll take the train !"
later gater

Sure, I ran out of gas and now I'm broke anyway.BAKOY_MUSIC wrote:let's get back to our studios, hey ?
Hehe, thats enough "car analogies" for today
A lot of people are moaning because they WANT Sampler/Operator for free.
Its followed by an empty threat like "I'll buy something with more features for less money from a competitor".
That only proves you don't NEED Sampler/Operator.
What do people really need? More features, preferably free.. Nope thats what they want...
Its the difference between Ableton WANTING your money to build mansions and buy sports cars and Ableton NEEDING your money so that they can pay programmers to make features you want and need.
I bought Sampler/Operator and I haven't looked back ever since.
Both are used to create new sounds.
Sure, I could get a sampler that imports every format flawlessly because its so basic in features. Or I could get one that integrates smoothly with the host I'm using with some kickass features to boot.
Sampler often gets compared to the likes of Kontakt, EXS,... samplers that have been around, have a fairly large userbase and have been updated several times over the years.
Not that bad for a first version, considering you'll have a pretty hard time importing a Sampler patch into Kontakt.
If every sampler was the same. We'd all be using the same "model". What a horrible world that would be

I never left my studio.
If Sampler was Cheaper, i probably would not buy it.
Sampler is real cheap compare to mach5, or kontakt.
I have paid nearly $1000 to ableton already with paid upgrades.
It would be nice to catch a break on a sampler that can only be used in Ableton software.
I really appreciate Ableton software and will continue to support Live, But would appreciate some enhancements without having to reach into my pocket again.

ableton offered a paid upgrade, you saw it as a good value for your money, you paid and got your upgrade. so you already got a good value for your money or you wouldn't have dished it out to begin with. now you're saying they should have made the deal sweeter.Rogue Scrunt wrote:I have paid nearly $1000 to ableton already with paid upgrades.

going back to my chips analogy. you saw the bag of chips for $1. in the store. you bought the chips. now you're complaining that they didn't include salsa with the chips.
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.
