Please help......I have just purchased an X-Session midi controller and am trying to set it up on ableton 6 . Under preferences MIDI SYNC, I have number 1 set as ...............

Underneath i have some more options under MIDI PORTS. There are 2 inputs and 2 outputs. Mine are set as
input- EV-XS USB MIDI
input- MIDIIN2 ( EV-XS USB MIDI CONTROLLER)
output- microsoft GS wave

I can turn these on or off under TRACK,SYNC ,REMOTE. Which should I have turned on?????
What am i doing wrong as when i try click on he midi button and try to assign the crossfader etc.... nothing happens when i slide the crossfader
Any help would be much appreciated for an abelton novice

does the midi indicator light flash when you hit a button or move the crossfader??
it's in the top R/H corner of the screen..

I just plugged my X-session in via the USB cable and it worked straight away
i didn't need to set anything up m8

You have to turn "remote" in the INPUT section for the EV-XS USB MIDI - this will allow you to control remotely Live. That's it!
