the ultimate midi-controller to use Live

Post by trigg » Thu Sep 27, 2007 11:46 am

Hi guys,

I'm currently working on a live-set with Ableton. I create all my music in Cubase and export loops to Ableton. My music varies from dark beats to lush atmospheres and everything in between so I want to create a liveset where I can easily switch beats/tempo/grooves and stuff like that.

I'm looking for the best affordable midi-controller to use on stage.

* M-audio UC33e
I hear a lot about this one, but it has no crossfade and rotary buttons, which I may need. Could this be a problem?

* Faderfox LV2
Looks like a nice controller but is small so you probably need 2 of them (and I rather want just one unit)

* Novation Remote SL 25/49
This one seems nice; has keys in it as well and automapping. I wonder however if there are enough knobs to twist...

Am I missing something?
Which one should I take or should I look further??

I'd appreciate your help!

I love my x-station.. Mainly because the knob/fader layout is so much more... coloured?... err... no.... but it's not just anonymous rows of faders... there are small marks and stuff... because they're essentially made to control the synth..

the zero sl rocks as well... but it's plasticy in the extreme.

I have both the UC33E and a Remote SL61. I have to say that
the Remote SL is the best controller. It has everything I need.
Its flexibility of mapping, labels, rotary encoders, x-y control,
pots, and faders. I highly recommend it.
